Whitefish River First Nation Territory
In 1850 at Baawating, now Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Anishinabek Chiefs and representatives of the British Crown signed the Robinson Huron Treaty. Chief Wabakekik chose three miles front, near Shebawenaning, by five miles inland, for himself and his band. When the allotment was surveyed in 1851, the chief noticed an error. This video tells the story from the perspective of the First Nation.
